H.E. Ambassador Shariar Gianfranco, Rahimi. Deputy Head of: the Observer
to the United Nations and Alternate Representative to ECOSOC. Economic and Social Counsel of the United Nations.
H.E. Ambassador Rahimi, born to a nobility family who trace its ancestry, back about three hundred years to the Euro-Asian royal lineage in most part from Persian (Iranian) background with relatives in various part of the world such as: Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Austria and England. His parents who are retired Art dealers and father an archaeologist connoisseur in Fine Museum quality Arts living in New York, life members of NY’s Metropolitan Museum of Art while expert in ancient and near east art have helped Mr. Rahimi to develop his skills in communication and diplomatic background while he continued his love for the art world. He grew up in Diplomatic settings while living in several countries due to his parents’ career and relatives who were high profile in politics and diplomacy. His academic career consists of undergraduate studies at
Hunter
College
on park Ave &

. New York and later at Colombia university as graduate student, further studies as none matriculated at New School (N.Y.) and George town University located in Washington D.C. Mr. Rahimi started his career in United Nations related work at an early age as an Intern with Governing council of UNDP in
Geneva
Switzerland in mid 80’s. That led to his appointment as assistant to Chief of Information with newly established UNOEOA office (United Nations Office for Emergency Operations in
Africa
) which dealt with
Africa
’s-famine related issues in 17 countries. In 1987-89 Mr. Rahimi continued his diplomatic career with the Permanent Mission of Bahrain to the UN as adviser to the Deputy Ambassador. Over 10 years of his career consisted of voluntary work with Non Governmental Organizations affiliated with United Nations which included treasurer for Committee for UN habitat in
New York
.
During his work in diplomacy he had found great interest also in fine arts and collecting of rare beautiful works which he would like to share with close friends and associates. You will be entertained with few pieces which are in a private collection in
Manhattan
at some galleries and private storage in
United States
